Our society does a disservice to our black women when it comes to our representation. We don't see our black women that educates, that heals, that defends. More often, we see black women take on roles that are negative. I would love to see more positive images of black women in the media. We don't need black women questioning their blackness and comparing their identities. If there was more diversity and multidimensional characters, a truer picture of who we are as black women would exist. The way we're depicted in the media starts to attack our self esteems and the our self perception. People who watch television will believe the negative versus the positive, simply because it's shown more; regardless if it isn't true.
