You were probably wondering who's the girl behind this screen. Well, I'm Shaamel Bates. (If you look to your right, there's a picture of me smiling.) I am a 21 year old senior Digital Journalism major. The purpose of me creating this platform, is to shed light on the misrepresentation of African-American women in pop culture. Not excluding the women who are apart of the LGBTQ+ community, their lack of representation in pop culture alone speaks volumes.
