Fatherless

A lot of black women grow up without fathers? Myth. According to the CDC, there are about 2.5 million black fathers that live with their children and 1.7 million who don't. Just because black women are UNMARRIED doesn't mean their children's fathers are absent. In our society, if you aren't married you're considered single. There are many factors that go into why someone doesn't get married that has nothing to do with race. Maybe the woman doesn't want to be married? Maybe the woman isn't ready to get married? Maybe the man she's with hasn't popped the question? Perhaps the father of her child/children has passed away? It's unfair to make the assumption that we're fatherless. Contrary to popular belief, there are a pretty good amount of unmarried couples raising their children AND THEN there are people who co-parent. Fatherlessness IS an issue but to think it's an issue for every black woman you see, is asinine. Our mothers don't have to married to our fathers in order to have a great bond with them.
